This is from my forthcoming novel To Hiss or to Kiss after the hero and heroine have their first real meeting.
“You don’t have much fear, do you?” His eyes are filled with heat again, even as they assess me with somewhat wary trepidation. I’m definitely not the only one feeling conflicted, and that’s a relief.
I shrug, walking to the passenger side and getting in, playing my bravado for all it’s worth. “Maybe I’m just blissfully naive.” I’m happy to hear him chuckling again.
